Star Representation

I decided to use Melanie Martinez to show the way a stars representation of themselves is important to their career, and how that representation alters through the years with certain traits becoming more iconic to their name. For her, the colour of her hair and the gap between her teeth, as well as the unsettling themes of her songs are her signatures.

Song Choice

The artist I have chosen is Melanie Martinez, and her song 'Fire Drill' which was originally played as the credits song to her film-movie 'K-12' but was released as a single alongside 'Play date' at the end of June 2020. I chose this song because it is in protest against current society expectations, how media has such an involvement in events,and making cynical comments about the government. I am personally quite fond of the artist, as her music often faces issues such as rape or the education system, but i am personally like this song because of it's very current themes relating to social media and expectations.
